So I’m a stock exchange speculator AND a student in the same time… and I was reading today an article in which the CEO of one of the Romanian stock exchanges said that inn his oppinion, the tendency today is towards a huge european stock exchange. I do tend to believe thet is true, but I don’t think that we will see this faster than, let’s say…50 years. And I will tell you why. It is obvious that the important european SEs will try to aquire as many small SEs as possible in order to reinforce their position in this industry. And, in the end, we will probably see some big conglomerates, owned by the French, German or Italian stock exchanges. It is hard for me to believe right mow that these 3 will manage to reach to an agreement regarding a merger between them, mostly bacuse each of them will want to have the strongest position, so amerger in almost impossible. My take is that the most important stock exchanges in the world in the next 20 or 30 years will not be the ones from NY, Paris or Frankfurt, but rather the ones from Russia, China, japan orIndia.

But again, I might be right, I might be not :)
